Shingle Residential Roofing in Milwaukee

Full tear-off and replacement using Owens Corning and Atlas architectural shingles — installed to handle Wisconsin winters and summer storms.

A Residential Roofing is one of the larger investments you’ll make in your home, and most of what you’re paying for is invisible once the job is done. The shingles are the part you see. The decking underneath, the ice and water shield at the eaves, the underlayment, the flashing where the roof meets a wall or chimney, and the ventilation that lets the attic breathe — those are what actually determine whether the roof lasts twenty-five years or starts leaking in eight.

We replace roofs on Milwaukee homes of every age and shape, and we do the parts you can’t see properly. Every job starts with a free inspection and a written estimate that itemises exactly what you’re getting.

What a Full Residential Roofing Includes

Complete tear-off

We strip the existing roof down to the decking rather than laying new shingles over old. It costs more in labour and it's the only way to see what's underneath — rotted decking, failed flashing, missing ice barrier.

Decking inspection and repair

Once the old roof is off we walk the deck and replace any sheathing that's soft, delaminated or water-damaged. You're told about it and priced before we proceed.

Ice and water shield

Self-adhering membrane at the eaves, in the valleys and around penetrations. In this climate this is not optional — it's what stops ice dam backup from reaching your ceiling.

Synthetic underlayment

Across the full deck, over the ice barrier. Lighter, tougher and more water-resistant than traditional felt.

Architectural shingles

Owens Corning and Atlas laminated shingles, carrying a 25 to 30 year manufacturer warranty depending on the product line. We'll walk you through the options and the colour choices.

Flashing and ventilation

New step flashing at walls, counter flashing at chimneys, fresh pipe boots, and ridge vent sized to balance with your soffit intake.

Full site cleanup

Debris hauled away and a magnetic sweep of the lawn and driveway for nails, every day — not just at the end.

Roofing Milwaukee's Housing Stock

Milwaukee’s neighbourhoods are full of houses built between the 1910s and the 1950s — bungalows, Cape Cods, Polish flats and duplexes on the South Side, Tudors and colonials further out. They’re solid houses, but they present roofing problems that a subdivision built in 2005 doesn’t.

Steep pitches and multiple dormers mean more valleys, more flashing points and more places for water to find a way in. Original decking is often board sheathing rather than plywood, with gaps that need addressing. And a lot of these houses were built before anyone thought seriously about attic ventilation, so you’ll find bathroom fans venting into the attic, blocked soffits, and no ridge vent at all — which is exactly the recipe for ice dams in January and cooked shingles in July.

We look at all of it before quoting. If your roof is failing because the attic can’t breathe, replacing the shingles alone just resets the clock on the same problem.

FAQ

How much does a Residential Roofing cost in Milwaukee?

It depends on square footage, pitch, how many layers have to come off, how much decking needs replacing, and which shingle you choose. A steep roof with three dormers costs more to do than a simple gable of the same area. We inspect the roof and give you a written number rather than a range over the phone.

How do I know if I need a replacement or just a repair?

Curling or cupping shingles across the whole roof, granules filling the gutters, daylight visible in the attic, or a roof past twenty years usually points to replacement. A single leak around a chimney or vent is often just a repair. We’ll tell you honestly which one you’re looking at — see our roof repair page.

Can you put new shingles over the old ones?

It’s possible on some roofs and it’s cheaper, but we don’t recommend it. You can’t inspect the decking, you can’t add ice and water shield, the second layer traps heat and shortens shingle life, and it complicates any future replacement. We tear off.

How long does it take?

Most residential shingle replacements take one to three days. Larger or more complex roofs take longer, and Wisconsin weather sometimes has its own opinion about scheduling.

What warranty do I get?

Five years on our workmanship, plus the manufacturer’s shingle warranty — typically 25 to 30 years depending on the product selected. We’ll explain exactly what each covers before work begins.

Will you work with my insurance company?

Yes. If the roof was damaged by a storm or hail, we document the damage thoroughly and work alongside your adjuster through the claim.
